On February 19, George Williams College of Aurora University celebrated the Grand Reopening of the College Inn, a gathering spot for students and campus community members to grab a snack, study, watch TV or just relax.
This historic day featured a very special recognition from President Rebecca L. Sherrick, who provided an overview highlighting how far the campus has come come, where it is going and how special this day was in the history of the campus. Following her remarks, Dr. Sherrick gathered with faculty, staff and students for a ceremonial ribbon cutting to make the reopening official.
The crowd was entertained by four students (Jacob, Dominic, Cory, Silas, shown in the third photo below) who sang songs followed by the awarding of raffle prizes that were given to select ticket holders in the crowd. One lucky winner was the recipient of an iPad (Aylssa, fourth photo below).
John Pyle, Senior Vice President, also announced the first GWC Signature Sandwich contest winner. The sandwich (fifth photo below) consists of herbed flatbread, grilled chicken, bacon, Swiss cheese, Provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, fried onion straws, avocado, mayonnaise and ranch dressing. Congratulations to Brendan (last photo below) for coming up with this delicious sandwich.
This was truly a historic day for GWC and one that was full of energy and happiness. We are very proud to have revamped this space to give back to our students and surrounding community.
