Music by the Lake presents Christmas concerts at George Williams College

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and George Williams College and Music by the Lake are ready to celebrate it. A special Christmas concert featuring the Music by the Lake Singers and Festival Orchestra, led by conductor Christine Flasch, will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, with a second performance at 7:30 p.m. Special guests include principal musicians from the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and the Wisconsin Philharmonic and member of the 2011-2012 Florentine Opera Studio, baritone Dan Richardson. Titled “Christmas at George Williams” these indoor concerts will be presented in the Seabury Room located in the Beasley Campus Center.

The program will feature orchestral and spiritual favorites including “Overture” from Hansel and Gretel; a sing-a-long of traditional carols woven through orchestral themes of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite in Fettke’s A Festival of Carols; jazz spiritual which combines hymns Rise Up Shepherd and Follow and Behold That Star; Vaughan Williams’s “Ring Out Ye Crystal Spheres” from Christmas Cantata Hodie and much more.

Both performances are free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations are required. Call 262-245-8501 or contact mbtl@aurora.edu to make a reservation. For more information, visit musicbythelake.com.
